Samsung Exhibit II 4G Display Assembly Replacement

This guide is for replacing a damaged Touch Screen / Digitizer or LCD.

Step 1 | Battery

Insert plastic opening tool under back cover.

  • Apply pressure on tool and use a downward motion.
  • Pry the back cover off.

Step 2

Use a plastic opening tool to pry the battery out.

  • Insert the plastic opening tool under the battery.
  • Pry the battery out gently but firmly.

Step 3 | Top Rear Housing Cover

Insert the plastic opening tool under the back cover.

  • Pry the top cover upward using the plastic opening tool.
  • The top cover should now be removed from the phone.

Remove top cover.

Remove three 3.8mm Phillips #000 screws from both the top and back of the device.

  • Remove two screws from the top of the device.
  • Remove one screw from each side of the back of the device.

Slide the top cover away from the phone using a plastic opening tool.

Step 7 | Midframe

Remove the four 3.8mm Phillips #000 screws from the back assembly.

Insert the plastic opening tool between the back assembly and the phone.

  • Pry the back assembly gently away from the phone.

Step 9

Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry around the edge of the back assembly.

Separate the back panel assembly from the main unit.

Step 11 | Vibration Motor

Insert the pointed end of a spudger into the gap in the round housing frame.

  • Use the spudger to carefully pry and remove the vibrator from its adhesive.

Remove the vibrator cable from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger.

Step 13 | Rear Facing Camera

Disconnect the camera assembly cable with the flat end of a spudger.

Release the camera from its mounting within the square housing.

Step 15 | Motherboard

Position the spudger under each corner ribbon cable.

Lift the ribbon cables carefully to avoid damage.

  • Remove the ribbon cables from their slots.
  • Insert a plastic pry tool into the gap between the motherboard and phone base.

Remove the motherboard from the frame by lifting it upwards.

  • Tilt the motherboard up carefully to avoid damaging the ribbon cable at the bottom.
  • Pry the connector from the socket using a spudger.

Step 17 | Headphone Jack

Insert the flat end of the spudger between the support panel and front assembly.

  • Pry up using the spudger to create an opening.
  • Insert a plastic opening tool into the newly created gap.

  • Plastic opening tool into opening and gently pry around edge.
  • Pry with plastic opening tool to release support panel from front assembly.

  • Insert the pointed end of a spudger into the gap.
  • Lift the spudger away from the support plate to remove the headphone component.

Use the flat end of the spudger to gently pry out the headphone jack component from its rectangular housing.

Step 21 | Display Assembly

Position the flat end of a spudger between the component and frame.

  • Lever the component using the spudger.

  • Insert the spudger between the blue film and the LCD's back.
  • Lift the blue film away from the LCD using the spudger.

Locate and slide the ribbon cable under the tan square component.

Insert a plastic opening tool between the LCD and Digitizer screen.

  • Use the plastic opening tool to pry and lift the LCD from the glass screen.
  • Adhesive material around edge of LCD may cause damage or tearing.

Step 25

Disconnect and lift the LCD assembly carefully to access the digitizer screen.
