Samsung Epic 4G Touch Plastic Midframe Replacement

Follow these steps to replace the plastic midframe.

Step 1 | Rear Case

  • Insert a plastic opening tool or your fingernail into the opening near the left side of the headphone jack.
  • Pry downward on the opening tool to release the rear case from its clips securing it to the midframe.

Remove the rear case by lifting it off.

Step 3 | microSD Card

Press the into its slot using the flat end of a spudger or your fingernail until you hear a click.

Release the card after hearing the click, as attempting to push it further in may damage the device.

  • When reassembling, press the microSD card into its slot until it clicks securely in place.

Step 4

Remove the microSD card from its slot.

Step 5 | Battery

Insert a plastic spudger into the gap between the battery and midframe on the lower left side.

Careful not to damage surrounding components — risk of electrical shorts.

Pry the battery upward by pushing down on the plastic spudger.

Step 6

Remove battery from midframe.

Step 7 | Plastic Midframe

Remove the six Phillips #00 screws, each with a head diameter of 4.0 mm.

  • The screws secure the midframe to the front panel assembly.

Incorrectly prying at the midframe may cause damage.

  • Locate the first divot to the left of the micro-USB port.
  • Find the second divot near the corner, to the right of the micro-USB port.
  • The third insertion point is two inches to the right of the volume control toggle, toward the corner.
  • An additional spot for prying is about one inch to the right of the volume button.

Insert the plastic opening tool just to the left of the micro-USB port.

  • Pry carefully between the midframe and the display to create a gap.

Step 10

Position the plastic opening tool to the right of the mico-USB port and gently pry open the gap between the midframe and the display.

Step 11

Locate approximately 2 inches to the right of the volume control and pry the connection between the midframe and the front panel assembly.

Step 12

Disconnect the micro-USB end of the front panel from the midframe.

  • Lift up the front panel, moving it away from the midframe.
  • The assembly should now be free from the midframe.
