This repair guide is for replacing the front panel assembly.
Insert a plastic opening tool or your fingernail into the opening near the left side of the headphone jack.
Remove the rear case by lifting it off.
Press the microSD card into its slot using the flat end of a spudger or your fingernail until you hear a click.
Remove the microSD card from its slot.
Insert plastic opening tool into the gap between the battery and midframe, near the bottom left corner.
Pry the battery upward by pushing down on the plastic opening tool.
Remove battery from midframe.
Remove the six 4.0 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the midframe to the front panel.
Incorrect prying may lead to difficulties in removing the midframe.
Insert the plastic opening tool just left of the micro-USB port, prying between the midframe and the display to create a gap.
Position a plastic spudger about 1 mm to the right of the micro-USB port.
Pry about 2 inches to the right of the volume control toggles.
Be careful not to damage adjacent components.
Disconnect the headphone jack/vibrator assembly cable using the flat end of a spudger.
Disconnect the front-facing camera cable with the flat end of a spudger.
Avoid damaging the digitizer display cable.
Disconnect the display cable connector using a spudger.
Remove the two 3 mm Phillips #00 screws.
Lift the micro-USB end of the motherboard away from the display assembly.
Be careful not to snag the motherboard on any cables as you remove it.
Ensure the microphone cover is properly seated over the small peg and into the notch.
If the cover was stuck to the motherboard, reattach it to the display assembly's notch before proceeding.
Remove the 2.3 mm Phillips #00 screw that holds the front-facing camera bracket in place.
Disconnect and remove the front-facing camera bracket from the display assembly.
Use tweezers or your fingers to gently remove the front-facing camera/earpiece speaker assembly.
Insert the pointed spudger into the gap in the corner of the midframe.
Do not remove the vibrator completely, it is still attached to the headphone jack/vibrator assembly.
Insert the flat end of a spudger under the headphone jack and gently pry it loose from the midframe.
Disconnect and remove the headphone jack/vibrator assembly from the display assembly.
The front panel is still attached.
