Samsung Droid Charge Screen Replacement

Replace the Samsung Droid Charge screen with a new unit.

Step 1 | Rear Cover

Insert a fingernail or similar tool into the groove at the bottom of the phone.

Be careful not to scratch the surrounding area.

Pull upwards with gentle force to pry open the back case.

Step 2 | Battery

Careful when using the groove to lever out the battery.

  • Locate the large enough groove below the left part of the bottom of the battery area.
  • Use the groove to gently pry out the battery.
  • Store the removed battery in a safe place.

Step 3 | microSD

Push the SD card fully into its metal slot.

Wait for the distinct 'click' sound.

  • Release the SD card.
  • The SD card should automatically eject itself.
  • Remove the SD card from the device.

Step 4 | SIM Card

Push the SIM card upwards while it's still in its casing.

Be gentle to avoid damaging the SIM card or its housing.

Step 5 | Screen

Locate seven small black screws around the edge of the phone, just beneath the battery cover.

  • Remove each screw using a small Philips head screwdriver.
  • Securely store the screws in a safe location.

Locate your pry tool.

    pry tool into the plastic edge along the phone's sides.
  • Use a prying motion to lift the casing up.
  • Repeat this motion around the screen edge until the casing pops off.

Step 7

  • Release the pop connector for the motherboard located on the right.
  • Disconnect the volume button flex cable situated on the right side.
  • Remove the power button flex cable from its attachment point on the right.

Lift out the motherboard and set it aside for further work.

Be careful not to damage the phone — risk of internal components getting scratched or broken.

  • Warm the phone with a hairdryer or heat gun to loosen the screen's adhesive.
  • Use a pry tool to gently pry the screen away from the casing, applying force if necessary.

Step 9

Swap the old screen with the new one.
