Samsung Captivate Speaker Replacement

Playing music at high volumes can damage the speaker.

  • Replace with a new speaker if it becomes faulty.

Step 1 | Battery

Press the bottom section of the phone to release the back cover.

  • Slide the back cover down.
  • Lift the back cover up.

Place your finger under the battery and lift upwards to remove.

Install the new battery, replacing the old one.

Step 4 | Rear Case

Locate the spudger and position it under the phone's bottom section.

  • Gingerly lift and push the spudger to dislodge the bottom section, allowing two hidden screws to become visible.

Remove six 4.5mm #000 Phillips screws.

Forcing the cover may crack the plastic.

  • Start at a corner with a spudger to separate rear case from front display.
  • Move spudger towards top on both sides; use plastic opening tool if preferred.
  • Apply gentle pressure in center and slide cover towards bottom, avoiding the top area.

  • Remove the Rear Case screws.
  • Gently pry the Rear Case away from the phone body.

Step 8 | Speaker

Remove the speaker assembly from the LCD with a Phillips 00 screwdriver.

Lift the bottom tab of the plastic ribbon cable connector using a plastic opening tool.

  • Pull out the ribbon cable.
  • Use a spudger or plastic opening tool to lift up the speaker, then carefully remove it by hand.
