Samsung Captivate Rear Case Replacement

Damaged or cracked rear case can compromise structural integrity — handle with care.

Step 1 | Battery

Press down on the bottom section of the phone.

  • Slide the bottom piece downward to release the back cover.

Lift the back cover upwards to remove it.

Press the battery release at the bottom.

  • Finger will pop up allowing removal.
  • Lift out the battery.

  • Remove the old battery from its compartment.
  • Take the new battery and insert it into the compartment securely.

Step 4 | Rear Case

Insert the spudger under the phone's bottom section.

  • Gently lift and push the spudger to move the bottom section downwards.
  • This will reveal two hidden screws.

Step 5

Remove all six 4.5mm #000 Phillips screws.

Forcing the cover may cause cracked plastic.

  • Begin at the bottom corner with a spudger to separate the rear case from the front display.
  • Slide the plastic opening tool towards the top on both sides for easier separation.
  • Detaching the top: apply backward pressure to both corners with a finger on the center, and slide the back cover toward the bottom.

Remove and separate the rear case from the phone.
