Samsung Captivate Glide Screen Replacement

Remove the back cover using a fingernail or plastic opening tool.

The cover will pull up and off.

Remove the battery using either a plastic opening tool or your finger.

Use the #00 screwdriver to remove the 7 screws holding the backplate in place.

  • Use the plastic opening tool to remove the back plate.
  • Pry the lip on both sides, taking care to release each one.
  • Continue working around the edges once the two sides are pried up.

Disconnect the two motherboard tabs from the base plate using a plastic opening tool.

Use tweezers to disconnect the antenna cable from the motherboard.

Use the #00 Phillips screwdriver to remove the single screw attaching the motherboard to the phone's base.

Remove the motherboard from its mounting points at the base of the phone.

Use your #00 screwdriver to remove all eight screws.

Use tweezers to carefully remove the blue tape.

Remove the screws using the #00 screwdriver.

Use a plastic opening tool to pry off the back plate, focusing on the four main attachment points.

Be prepared for potential difficulty at some of these points.

Work the plastic opening tool along the edge to prevent the back plate from re-engaging.

Remove the back plate.

  • Gently peel back the slide flex cable from the back plate.
  • Once detached, carefully lift off the back plate.

Slide the flex cable through the slot.

  • Be careful not to tear the cable.

  • Set the front plate down.

Use a #00 screwdriver to remove the four corner screws.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to release all clips on all four sides of the screen assembly.
  • Slide the flex cable through its designated slot and carefully remove the back plate.

  • Release the main jaw connector, front speaker, and camera using a plastic opening tool.

Use the plastic opening tool to release the keypad flex cable from the jaw connector clamp.

Apply heat to the outer edges of the component with a heat gun or blow dryer, moving quickly for approximately 45 seconds.

Use the plastic opening tool to gently pry around the edges of the touch screen and release it from the screen frame.

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully remove the keyboard flex cable from the screen.

  • The adhesive is still warm, which should make removal easier.
  • Once separated, you can install the new screen assembly.
