Samsung Captivate Glide QWERTY Keyboard Replacement

Replacing the keyboard on your Samsung Captivate Glide device.

Use a plastic opening tool or your fingernail to remove the back cover.

The cover will pull up and come off.

Use a plastic opening tool or your fingers to remove the battery.

Remove screws (7) from backplate with a #00 screwdriver.

Be careful to pry only at the lip for each side — risk of damaging surrounding components.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to remove the back plate.
  • Pry up one side first, working your way around the edges afterwards.
  • Make sure both sides are pried up for proper access.

Use the plastic opening tool to pry off the two tabs that connect the motherboard to the phone's base.

Disconnect the antenna cable from the motherboard using a pair of tweezers.

Use a #00 Phillips screwdriver to remove the single screw holding the motherboard in place.

Lift the motherboard carefully from the base of the phone.

Step 9 | QWERTY Keyboard

Use the #00 screwdriver to remove the eight screws.

Use tweezers to carefully remove the blue tape.

Use the #00 screwdriver to remove screws.

Use a plastic opening tool to pry off the back plate, focusing on its four main attachment points.

Difficulty may be encountered in certain areas.

Work the plastic opening tool along the edge of the back plate to prevent it from closing shut again.

Lift the back plate.

  • Gently peel the flex cable from the back plate, taking care that it's detached from the adhesive.

Set the front plate down.

  • Slide the flex cable through the slot.

Be careful not to pinch or damage the flex cable.

Step 15

Remove the old keyboard from its location.

  • Lift the new keyboard to prevent damage to cables or connectors.
  • Position the new keyboard with the letter keys facing down and the white backing facing up.
