Disassembling Samsung Captivate Glide Phone

This repair requires a moderate level of technical expertise.

  • To access internal components, remove the single screw using a single screwdriver tip.
  • The device features modular parts for easy replacement.
  • This is similar to the Samsung Captivate in design, but with an additional slide-out QWERTY keyboard feature.

The Samsung Captivate Glide has a relatively simple design for disassembly.

  • Remove the back cover using a plastic spudger or similar tool.
  • Access the internal components, which are easily removable and replaceable.

Step 2 | Battery Removal

Remove the battery.

Step 3 | Unscrewing the Back

Remove the seven Phillips #00 screws.

Insert plastic opening tool into the clips at the indicated locations.

  • Pry gently to pop the back panel up.
  • Use a wider lipped plastic opening tool to pry the outside of the housing up.
  • The back panel should remove cleanly.

Remove the screw using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Gently pry up the two pop connectors on the board.
  • Pull off the coaxial cable.

Remove the motherboard from the phone body.

Step 8 | Daughterboard Removal

Disconnect the pop connector from the daughter board.

  • Gently pry the daughter board away from the motherboard.
  • The daughter board will come loose, held down by stamped metal board level shielding cages.

Step 9 | Camera Removal

Remove the board pop connector to release the camera.

Step 10 | Speaker Removal

Disconnect the pop connector by pulling it upwards.

Examine the motherboard components.

Disconnect the coaxial cable from the antenna module.

  • Remove the Phillips #00 screw securing the antenna module.
  • Pry the antenna module upward at the indicated location.
