Samsung Galaxy Note10+ Earpiece Speaker Replacement

This repair guide is for removing and replacing the earpiece speaker on a Samsung Galaxy Note10+

Step 1 | Remove the SIM card

  • Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or straightened paper clip into the small hole on the SIM card tray.
  • Press firmly to eject the tray.
  • Remove the ejected SIM card tray.

Step 2 | Heat the rear cover

Completely power off your phone before disassembly.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the rear cover for one minute.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate, but be careful not to overheat the phone as the display and internal battery are prone to heat damage.

Step 3 | Insert an opening pick

Apply suction cup to heated edge of rear cover, as close as possible.

  • If cracked, cover with clear packing tape for better adhesion.
  • Alternatively, use strong tape instead of suction cup or superglue it on.

Pull up on suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap between rear cover and frame. Be cautious as excessive force may cause damage.

  • If having trouble, apply more heat to the edge and try again.
  • Insert point of an opening pick into created gap.

Step 4 | Begin to slice the adhesive

Insert the opening pick along the left edge, working towards the bottom left corner.

  • Never insert more than halfway into the phone — risk of damaging internal components.

  • Leave the pick in place at the bottom left corner to prevent re-sealing of the adhesive.

Step 5 | Slice around the perimeter of the phone

  • Repeat the heating and cutting process for three remaining sides of the phone.
  • Leave a pick on each side before moving to the next, preventing resealing adhesive.
  • The rear cover will separate from the phone once all sides are completed.

Step 6 | Lift off the rear cover

Remove the rear cover by lifting it straight up.

Turn on your device and test the repair before resealing.

Step 7 | Lift up the metal cover

Remove the wireless charging coil by taking out the five 4 mm screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

Use tweezers to lift the metal shield covering the battery connector

Step 9 | Disconnect the battery

Hold the metal shield out of the way.

  • Pry up the battery connector using the pointed end of a spudger.

Step 10 | Disconnect the wireless charging coil

Use the pointed end of a spudger to carefully disconnect the wireless charging coil connector from the motherboard.

Step 11 | Remove the wireless charging coil

Peel the wireless charging coil upwards, carefully lifting it away from the device.

  • The wireless charging coil is secured with light adhesive, be gentle when removing.
  • Remove the wireless charging coil completely.

Step 12 | Remove the loudspeaker screws

Remove the loudspeaker's mounting screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

  • There are five 4 mm screws in total.

Step 13 | Remove the loudspeaker

Remove the loudspeaker using a pair of tweezers.

Step 14 | Remove the interconnect cables

Use the pointed tip of a spudger to carefully pry the main interconnect cable loose from its socket on the motherboard.

  • Next, disconnect the secondary interconnect cable from the motherboard.

Disconnect the main interconnect cable using a spudger.

  • Target the pointed end of the spudger to avoid damaging the connector.
  • Remove the secondary interconnect cable from its port on the daughterboard.

  • Disconnect and remove the first interconnect cable.
  • Repeat with the second interconnect cable, disconnecting it from its connection point.

Step 17 | Remove the top plastic cover

Remove the top plastic cover by unscrewing the four 4mm Phillips screws using a Phillips screwdriver.

Use tweezers to lift and remove the top plastic cover.

Step 19 | Disconnect motherboard connectors

Remove the touch layer connector using the pointed end of a spudger.

  • Next, disconnect the side button connector from the motherboard.

  • Use the pointed end of a spudger to disconnect the S-Pen charging coil connector from the motherboard.

Disconnect the display cable from the motherboard using the pointed end of a spudger.

Step 22 | Remove the motherboard

Insert the pointed end of a spudger between the case and the motherboard.

  • Pry gently until you can grasp the motherboard securely.
  • Once secure, carefully lift the motherboard out of its socket.

Step 23 | Remove the earpiece speaker

Insert the spudger into the gap between the earpiece speaker and the phone's frame, near the bottom left corner.

  • Pry up to loosen the earpiece speaker.
  • The earpiece speaker is secured with light adhesive.

Remove the earpiece speaker by gently lifting it out with tweezers.

Old adhesive must be removed from the recess prior to installing a new earpiece speaker.
