Completely power off your device.

  • Prepare an iOpener and apply it to the left edge of the rear cover for one minute.
  • Alternative heating methods: hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate may be used; however, exercise caution to avoid overheating and damaging components, such as the display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply suction cup to heated edge of rear cover, as close to edge as possible.

  • If rear cover is badly cracked, cover with clear packing tape for better adhesion.
  • Pull up on suction cup with strong, steady force to create gap between rear cover and frame.

Be prepared to reapply heat if removal proves difficult.

  • Insert opening pick point into created gap.
  • Step 3 | Begin to slice the adhesive

Do not insert the opening pick more than halfway into the phone — risk of damage.

    • Slide the opening pick along the left edge towards the bottom left corner.
    • Slice the adhesive using the pick in this position.
    • Leave the pick inserted to prevent re-sealing of the adhesive.

Step 4 | Slice around the perimeter of the phone

Continue the heating and cutting process for the remaining three sides.

    • Leave an opening pick on each side before moving to the next one to prevent resealing.
    • Proceed around the entire phone, repeating the process until all sides are separated.

The rear cover may detach from the phone once all sides have been separated.

Step 5 | Lift off the rear cover
