Oppo X9000 Earpiece Speaker Replacement

If you're having trouble hearing phone calls without using speakerphone, it's possible that the earpiece speaker is faulty and requires replacement.

Step 1 | Removing the Back Cover

Flip the phone over to expose the back.

  • Using your fingers, start prying the back cover from the top near the headphone jack and camera.
  • Continue moving down the sides and bottom until the back cover is completely removed.

Step 2 | Removing the Battery

Use your finger to carefully lift the top-right corner of the battery nearest to the camera.

  • Continue lifting until the battery is freed from its housing.

Step 3 | Remove the Back Panel Screws

Remove the 12 x 3.6 mm Phillips screws from the phone's rear.

  • Use the 3.6 mm Phillips screwdriver.
  • Store all removed screws safely to avoid loss.

Step 4 | Remove the Rubber Stoppers

Locate the three circular rubber screw covers on the back of the phone.

  • Insert a spudger into the gap between each cover and the chassis.
  • In one smooth motion, pry the cover out from its hole.
  • Some force may be required to dislodge the covers.

Step 5 | Remove the Newly Exposed Screws

Use a 3.6 mm Phillips screwdriver to remove the three new 3.6mm Phillips screws.

Step 6 | Lift off the Back Panel

Insert the plastic opening tool underneath the chassis near the power button.

Pry the chassis from the phone with a moderate amount of force.

Step 7 | Remove the Power Button Bracket

Use the pointed tip of the spudger to carefully pry the power button bracket loose from the rear case.

Step 8 | Let the Button Fall Out

Rotate the phone onto its side.

Make sure not to lose the power button.

Step 9 | Remove the Volme Button Bracket

Pry the volume button bracket away from the rear case using the sharp end of a spudger.

Step 10 | Let the Button Fall Out

Hold the phone at an angle with the volume button facing downwards.

  • The volume button should fall out easily, take note of it.

Step 11 | Remove the Black Screws

The motherboard contains two separate chips, one above and one below the battery compartment.

  • Remove the three 3.6 mm Phillip's screws on the motherboard.
  • A small silver metal piece connected to the lowest screw may detach; this is the WiFi antenna holder, but it's not essential for phone function.

Step 12 | Disconnect the Motherboard

Use the flat end of the spudger to carefully lift the four tape connectors straight up from their sockets on the motherboard.

Remove the motherboard connections on the right side carefully.

  • Insert the spudger between the motherboard and each connection.
  • Rock the spudger back and forth to release the cables from the motherboard.

Pay close attention when removing this connection — risk of damage.

  • Unplug the bottom right connection.
  • Lift the tape to expose the second socket and disconnect it as well.

Step 15 | Disconnect the WiFi Antenna

Locate the WiFi antenna near its connection point on the smaller motherboard.

Gently pull the WiFi antenna upwards with your fingers, taking care not to apply too much pressure.

The antenna should now be disconnected from the bottom motherboard.

Step 16 | Remove the Small Motherboard

Locate the lower motherboard near the charging port.

  • Pry the motherboard loose using a spudger, starting from the sides closest to the charging port.
  • Continue prying until the motherboard is no longer connected to the phone.

Step 17 | Remove the Big Motherboard

Use a spudger to gently lift the motherboard from the top.

  • Pry upwards, working your way down the board.
  • The motherboard should come loose when it is no longer connected to the phone.

Step 18 | Remove the Earpiece Speaker

Use a spudger to carefully pry out the earpiece speaker, taking care not to damage its rubber lining.

If the rubber lining falls off, place it back on the earpiece speaker immediately.
