OnePlus X Charging Port Replacement

The phone's micro USB charging port is usually situated at the bottom edge, and replacement instructions are provided below.

Step 1 | Rear Panel

Press the power button on the right side of the phone.

  • Hold it down for a few seconds until "Power Off" appears on the screen.
  • Tap "Power Off" to turn off the phone.

Do not insert metal objects other than the recommended tool to avoid damaging the phone.

  • Insert a SIM card removal tool into the small hole above the volume buttons on the top right corner of the phone.
  • Alternatively, use a straightened paperclip if you don't have a SIM card removal tool or original packaging.
  • Push the removal tool into the hole to eject the SIM tray.
  • Remove the SIM tray from the phone.

Do not apply prolonged heat to any single area — risk of phone damage.

  • Put on heat-resistant gloves and place the phone on a heat-resistant surface.
  • Apply slow, even heat from a heat gun to the back panel edges.
  • Use a Jimmy to test adhesive softness while heating.
  • Carefully detach the back panel using opening picks and a suction cup.

Be cautious of residual heat causing the panel to reattach.

  • Press the suction cup to the back panel for secure hold.
  • Pull up on the panel using the suction cup to detach completely.
  • Remove the panel from the device, taking care around edges where adhesive may reattach.

Step 5 | Battery

Remove seven PH000 screws: four longer and three shorter.

  • PH000 screwdriver required for all.
  • Loosen the longer screws first, followed by the shorter ones.
  • Pry off the metal cover using a plastic spudger.
  • Start prying on the bottom edge of the plate near the battery.

Locate the battery connector wire, clipped into the motherboard.

  • Gently pry the clip with a plastic spudger to release it.
  • This will cut power to the phone and prevent electrical flow to components, essential for safe working conditions.

Locate the clear tab on the battery. This will be used to remove the battery.

  • Firmly grasp the clear tab and pull up and away from the phone to remove the battery.
  • Use caution when removing the battery, as excessive force may damage it.

  • To facilitate removal, you can use a black plastic spudger to pry between the battery and the phone.
  • Be careful not to damage the ribbon cables underneath the battery.

  • Continue to pull slowly on the battery until it is completely free from the phone.

Step 8 | Charging Port

Remove the 8 screws from the motherboard using a PH #000 screwdriver.

  • The order of removal does not matter as long as screws are removed before cables or wires.
  • Pry off the metal cover with a plastic spudger, taking care not to apply too much pressure due to adhesive.

Remove battery and metal covers.

  • Use a plastic spudger to unclip the rear-facing camera.
  • Disconnect the circled red wire connector using the spudger.
  • Make sure all cables and connectors are pushed away before removing the upper motherboard.

Step 10

Use a plastic opening tool to pry up the upper motherboard.

  • Pry carefully until the motherboard is safely removable.
  • Be careful not to damage the front camera, which is clipped underneath.

Locate the small screw on the bottom left hand side of the phone and remove it using a PH #000.

  • Remove the Phillips head screw and disconnect the black wire using a spudger.
  • Bend the cable out of the way for easier access.

Pry the ribbon-cable back with caution, as it is connected to both the charging port and vibration module.

  • Disconnect the ribbon-cable by pulling it back as shown in the image.
  • Pry out the vibration module using a plastic opening tool. Be gentle, as it is adhered to the phone.
  • Remove the vibration module before proceeding to remove the charging port.

Step 12

  • Pull up carefully on the cable attached to the vibration module, which is stuck to the charging port with adhesive.
  • Once both are loose, the vibration module and charging port should come free from the phone.
