OnePlus X Battery Replacement

Remove the glass rear panel on your OnePlus X to access the battery.

  • Disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard.

Press the power button located on the right side of the phone.

  • Hold down the power button for a few seconds until the "Power Off" option appears.
  • Select "Power Off" to turn off the phone completely.

Insert a SIM card removal tool into the small hole on the top right corner of the phone, just above the volume buttons.

  • If you don't have one, use a straightened out paperclip or similar object instead.
  • Push the tool into the hole and the tray should pop out.

Be careful not to push too hard, which may damage the phone's internal components.

Remove the SIM tray from the phone.

Never apply prolonged heat to one spot — risk of damage.

  • Put on heat-resistant gloves.
  • Place phone on a non-flammable surface.
  • Use a heat gun to apply slow, even heat to the back panel edges.
  • Test adhesive with a Jimmy while heating.
  • Detatch back panel using opening picks and a suction cup.

Press the suction cup firmly onto the back panel.

  • Pull up on the panel with the suction cup until it's completely detached.
  • When lifting the panel, be aware that lingering heat may reattach it; remove it promptly to avoid this.

Step 5 | Battery

Use a PH000 screwdriver to remove the seven circled screws.

  • Remove four longer PH000 screws.
  • Remove three shorter PH000 screws.
  • Pry off the metal cover using a plastic spudger, starting at the bottom edge near the battery.

Be cautious of the clips near the bottom right above the battery when prying the plate off.

Disabling power prevents damage from accidental electrical discharges.

  • Find the battery connector wire attached to the motherboard.
  • Pry the clip loose with a plastic spudger.

Locate the clear tab on the battery.

  • Firmly grasp the clear tab and pull up and away to remove the battery.
  • Be cautious when applying force, as excessive pressure can damage the battery.

  • Use a black plastic spudger to gently pry the battery away from the phone's adhesive.
  • Be careful not to damage the ribbon cables underneath the battery.

  • Continue pulling slowly until the battery is completely free.
