OnePlus One Rear Facing Camera Replacement

Step 1 | Battery

Remove the SIM tray.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to carefully separate the back panel from the main body assembly.
  • Be cautious around the SIM slot and other weak areas.

Avoid attempting to free the battery at this stage, as it can be easily damaged or destroyed if not done correctly.

  • If you encounter resistance from locking clips, move in one consistent direction around the phone.
  • Continue top to bottom, left to right, or clockwise/counter-clockwise until you reach about half way around the device.

Do not proceed without completing the next step for the battery removal.

  • Use a pair of tweezers to remove the plastic plugs.
  • With hidden screws revealed, use a PH #00 screwdriver to remove three 3.175mm screws.
  • Continue using the PH #00 screwdriver to remove six more 3.175mm screws.

Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry up the black plastic cover.

  • Remove the cover from the device.

The battery is held by high-grade adhesive, so proceed with caution.

  • Identify the black ribbon attached to the logic board.
  • Lift the battery from the side opposite the ribbon using a spudger.
  • The battery is soft and malleable, handle it carefully to avoid damage.

  • Remove the battery from its dock using a black spudger.
  • Disconnecting the battery first makes removal easier.

Step 6 | Removal of Ribbons

Disconnect the side ribbons using a spudger, located above the volume up/down button on both sides of the device, and the top ribbon.

Be careful not to damage any internal components when disconnecting the ribbons.

Step 7 | Removal of Motherboard

Be cautious when handling the small philips 00 screw.

  • Remove the ribbons as previously described.
  • Pry out the motherboard using a spudger.
  • The last screw to remove is a philips 00, measuring 3.00 mm in length.

Step 8 | Removal of Rear Facing Camera

Use a spudger or angled tweezers to gently pry off the rear-facing camera.
