OnePlus One Motherboard Replacement

Be cautious when handling internal components to avoid damaging connectors and wires.

  • Replace the faulty motherboard with a new one following this guide.

Step 1 | Battery

Remove the SIM tray.

  • Using a plastic opening tool, carefully separate the back panel from the main body assembly of the phone, being extra cautious around the SIM slot and other weak areas.
  • You may encounter resistance due to hidden locking clips. To bypass this, move in one consistent direction, top to bottom or left to right, clockwise or counterclockwise.

Do not attempt to free the integrated battery at this point without proceeding to the next step, as it can be easily damaged or destroyed if proper steps are not taken.

Remove the plastic plugs using a pair of tweezers.

  • Expose hidden screws.
  • Use a PH #00 screwdriver to remove three 3.175mm screws.
  • Remove the remaining six 3.175mm screws using the same PH #00 screwdriver.

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully lift the black plastic cover.

  • Pry the cover upwards.
  • Remove the cover from the device.

Careful handling required: high-grade adhesive holds the battery in place.

  • Identify the black ribbon connecting the battery to the logic board.
  • Lift the battery from the side opposite the ribbon using a spudger.
  • The soft, malleable battery requires gentle removal to avoid permanent damage.

  • Black spudger prys up the battery ribbon from its dock.
  • You may disconnect the battery beforehand for easier removal.

Step 6 | Motherboard

Use a black spudger to carefully lift and disconnect all connectors.

Step 7

Use tweezers to carefully lift the front facing camera out of the device.

Step 8

Disconnect the antenna by lifting the top side of the motherboard.

  • Pry the volume button and power button away from the motherboard with a plastic tool.
  • Once the buttons are freed, carefully lift out the motherboard.
