Step 1 | Battery

Remove the SIM tray.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to separate the back panel from the main body assembly.
  • Be careful around the SIM slot and weak areas, as hidden locking clips may cause resistance.
  • Move the tool in one direction, such as top to bottom or clockwise, until you reach the midpoint.
  • Do not attempt to remove the battery at this point, as it is an integrated component that can be damaged if proper steps are not taken.

Remove the plastic plugs using tweezers.

  • Reveal hidden screws.
  • Remove three 3.175mm PH #00 screws.
  • Remove six more 3.175mm PH #00 screws.

Use a plastic opening tool to carefully lift the black plastic cover away from the device.

  • Apply gentle pressure on the edge of the cover.
  • Continue lifting until the cover comes free and can be removed.

Remove the motherboard cover to inspect the battery.

The battery has high-grade adhesive holding it in place, proceed with caution.

  • Lift the battery up from the side opposite the ribbon using a spudger.
  • The battery is soft and malleable; handle carefully to avoid damage.

Free the battery if not already disconnected.

  • Pry up and free the battery ribbon using a black spudger.

Step 6 | Removal of Ribbons

Remove the battery.

  • Use a spudger to disconnect all remaining ribbons.
  • Note: There are side ribbons for volume up/down and power, as well as top and battery compartment connections.

Step 7 | Removal of Motherboard

The last step is to remove the final screw, which uses a Phillips 00 head and measures 3.00 mm in length.

Use a spudger to pry out the motherboard after this screw is removed.

Step 8 | Removal of Rear Facing Camera

Remove the rear facing camera using a spudger or angled tweezers.

Step 9 | Removal of Front Facing Camera

Use a spudger or angled tweezers to gently pry the front-facing camera from its connector.

Step 10 | Display Assembly

  • Disconnect the motherboard and all connected parts.
  • Apply heat to the phone's screen using a:
    • iOpener
    • (or alternative) a heat gun or hairdryer

Apply heat and use an opening pick to pry the screen from the frame.

  • Use a blue opening tool, or a guitar pick as substitute, for prying.
  • Lift the screen away from the phone's body, separating it.

Positioning the display incorrectly may require reassembly with glue.

Locate the thin positioning frame roughly halfway through the display thickness and insert a tool to pry open carefully.
