OnePlus Nord Screen Replacement

Risk of fire or explosion if battery is punctured, discharge below 25% before disassembly.

  • Verify you have the correct screen replacement part, some screens come pre-installed in a new frame (chassis).
  • Replace cracked/broken screen only, original frame and motherboard remain intact.

You'll need replacement adhesive for reassembly.

Step 1 | Loosen the rear glass adhesive

Power off your device.

  • iOpener: Apply for at least 2 minutes to loosen rear glass adhesive.
  • Alternative heating methods: Hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate (caution: avoid overheating, AMOLED display and internal battery susceptible to damage).
  • Be cautious of overheating the phone's components.

Step 2 | Create a gap

Apply a suction cup to the back of the phone near the right edge, about 1 inch from the center.

  • Pull on the suction cup to create a gap between the rear glass and the frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

Insert the opening pick along the edge to the bottom right corner.

Do not slide out the opening pick until you have removed all adhesive strips.

  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent resealing of adhesive.
  • Remove or keep using the suction cup for a secure grip during this process.

Insert a second opening pick under the bottom right corner.

  • Slide it along the edge to the top right corner.
  • If cutting is difficult, use the iOpener again to soften the adhesive.

Leave the opening pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

Insert the third opening pick under the top right corner of the back cover.

  • Slide the tip of the opening pick along the edge of the phone to the top left corner to cut the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in the top left corner to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

  • Insert a fifth opening pick at the top left corner.
  • Slide the opening pick along the edge to the bottom left corner, cutting the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Insert the fifth opening pick at the bottom left corner and slide it along the edge to the bottom right corner.

  • To cut the remaining adhesive, continue sliding the pick from the bottom left to the bottom right corner.

Step 8 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover.

  • Apply strong, steady pressure to the phone for several minutes after installing the back cover.
  • A stack of heavy books can be used as a weight to aid in bonding the adhesive.

Step 9 | Remove the motherboard cover

Remove the motherboard cover using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • There are ten screws to remove, each 3.6 mm long.

Insert the opening pick under the motherboard cover.

  • Lift the motherboard cover up with the opening pick and release the plastic clips.
  • Remove the motherboard cover.

Step 11 | Disconnect the battery

  • Disconnect the battery connector using a spudger. Prise it straight up from its socket.

Step 12 | Remove the daughterboard cover

Remove the seven Phillips #00 screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Insert the opening pick under the daughterboard cover.

  • Pry up to release the clips.
  • Remove the daughterboard cover.

Step 14 | Disconnect the display connector

Locate the display connector and gently pry it loose from its daughterboard socket using the flat edge of a spudger.

Step 15 | Apply a heated iOpener

Apply a heat source (e.g., iOpener, hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate) to the screen for 2 minutes.

Be cautious not to overheat the phone, as both the display and internal battery are prone to heat damage.

Step 16 | Create a gap

Apply a suction cup to the right edge of the display.

  • If the phone's screen is cracked, use strong tape or superglue to secure the suction handle before proceeding.
  • Pull up the suction cup with strong, steady force to create a gap.
  • Insert the point of an opening pick into the gap and slide it to the bottom right corner.
  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Step 17 | Slice the adhesive

Insert a second opening pick at the bottom right corner.

  • Slide the opening pick along the edge to the top right corner of your phone.
  • Leave both opening picks in place to prevent adhesive resealing.

Insert a third opening pick under the top right corner.

  • Slide the opening pick along the edge to slice the adhesive.
  • Leave the opening pick in the top left corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

  • Insert a 4th opening pick near the top left corner.
  • Guide the pick along the edge, cutting the adhesive as you go.
  • Leave the pick in place at the bottom left corner to prevent re-adhesion.

Do not remove the screen completely yet, as the display cable may be damaged.

  • Insert a fifth opening pick under the bottom left corner.
  • Slide it along the bottom edge to cut the remaining adhesive.

Step 21 | Remove the display

Thread the display cable carefully through the frame.

  • Remove the display.
