Inserting the Jimmy into the seam between the rear glass and midframe requires some force.

A thin slicing tool is necessary due to the suction tool's inability to grip the phone's rear glass.

  • Insert the Jimmy at the bottom edge of the phone, creating a gap between the rear glass and midframe.
  • Leave the Jimmy in place for a few seconds to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

Risk of electrical shock: disconnect battery from charger before proceeding.

  • Place a spudger or opening pick under the connector's edge and pry straight up to release the battery.
  • Pry carefully under the connector's edge, not the socket on the board. Damaging the socket may be irreversible.
  • Avoid prying near surface-mounted components or scraping them accidentally.

Permanently damage the connector or pins: never force a connector into place.

  • Reconnect by aligning the connector over its socket and pressing down carefully, first one side then the other.
  • For wider connectors, press down only after they are fully seated to avoid bending or breaking the pins.
