Remove the SIM card tray from the phone.

  • When reinserting the SIM card, ensure it is aligned correctly within the SIM card tray.
  • A thin rubber gasket around the SIM tray offers water and dust protection. If this gasket is damaged or missing, replace it or the entire SIM card tray to safeguard internal components.

Step 3 | Loosen the rear glass

Step 3 image

Prepare an iOpener by applying it to the rear glass for at least three minutes to loosen adhesive underneath.

  • Alternative heat sources include a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate.
  • Careful not to overheat phone; display and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.

Step 4 | Insert an iFlex

Step 4 image

Use caution when applying force, as damage to the midframe or rear glass is possible.

  • Choose a thin slicing tool instead of a suction cup due to the phone's smooth rear glass.
  • Insert an iFlex into the seam at the bottom edge of the phone between the rear glass and midframe.
  • Apply gentle force as needed to create a gap, but leave the iFlex in place to prevent adhesive reseal.

Step 5 | Insert an opening pick

Step 5 image

Apply a suction handle to the bottom edge of the screen.

If the display is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better adhesion or use strong tape instead.

  • Lift the screen with the suction handle and insert an iFlex.
  • Inserting the iFlex should create a small gap between the screen and phone assembly.

Be prepared to apply more heat, depending on your phone's age, if the process is difficult.
