OnePlus Nord 2 5G Daughterboard Replacement

This is a guide for replacing the daughterboard on the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. Replace lost or damaged adhesive strips as needed during repair.

Step 1 | Eject the SIM card tray

Insert a SIM card eject tool into the small hole in the SIM card tray, located on the upper left edge of the phone.

Press firmly and carefully to avoid damaging the tray or surrounding components.

Once ejected, proceed with replacing or removing the SIM card as needed.

Step 2 | Remove the SIM card tray

Remove the SIM card tray from the phone.

  • Reinsert the SIM card in the proper orientation within the tray.
  • Inspect the thin rubber gasket around the SIM tray for damage or absence — missing protection can expose internal components to water and dust risk.

Replace damaged or missing gaskets to ensure phone integrity or consider replacing the entire SIM card tray if necessary.

Step 3 | Loosen the rear glass

Excessive heat can cause permanent damage to your phone's display and battery.

  • Apply an iOpener to the rear glass for at least three minutes to loosen adhesive.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate but be cautious not to overheat your phone.

Step 4 | Insert an iFlex

Some suction tools may not adhere to the phone's rear glass due to its surface.

  • Use a thin slicing tool to create a gap between the midframe and rear glass.
  • Insert an iFlex into the seam at the bottom edge, applying gentle force if necessary.
  • Leave the iFlex in place to prevent adhesive resealing.

Step 5 | Insert an opening pick

  • Insert an opening pick into the existing gap.
  • Remove the iFlex.

Step 6 | Slice the bottom edge adhesive

Insert the opening pick into the bottom right corner and slide it across to cut the adhesive.

Do not remove the opening pick, as this may cause the adhesive to re-seal.

Insert another opening pick into the bottom right corner.

  • Use this second pick to slide along the bottom edge, slicing through the adhesive at the left corner.
  • Leave both picks in place to prevent re-adhesion.

Step 8 | Slice the left edge adhesive

Check if adhesive has cooled, and reheat with iOpener as needed.

  • Insert third opening pick at bottom left corner of phone.
  • Slide opening pick along left edge to slice adhesive.
  • Leave pick in top left corner to prevent adhesive resealing.

Step 9 | Slice the top edge adhesive

Insert opening pick under top left corner of rear glass.

  • Slide pick along top edge, slicing adhesive.
  • Leave pick in top right corner to hold open.

Step 10 | Slice the right edge adhesive

Insert a pick under the top right corner.

  • Slide it along the right edge, slicing any remaining adhesive.

Step 11 | Remove the back cover

Remove the back cover.

  • Secure with pre-cut adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape.
  • Apply strong, steady pressure to phone for several minutes after installing.
  • Alternative: use a stack of heavy books to press phone firmly.

Step 12 | Remove the connector bracket

Remove the metal bracket covering the flash assembly connector using a pair of tweezers.

Step 13 | Disconnect the flash assembly

Use a spudger to pry the flash assembly cable connector straight up from its socket.

Step 14 | Unfasten the motherboard cover

Remove the motherboard cover with a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Take out the nine screws, each 3.8 mm long.

Step 15 | Pry up the motherboard cover

Locate the plastic clips holding the motherboard cover in place.

  • Twist the opening pick sideways to release the plastic clips, then pry up the motherboard cover.

Step 16 | Remove the motherboard cover

Remove the motherboard cover.

Step 17 | Disconnect the battery cable

Disconnect the battery cable by prying the connector straight up with a spudger.

Step 18 | Unfasten the daughterboard cover

Damage to surrounding components is possible if you do not remove the daughterboard cover.

  • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove six screws (3.8 mm long) securing the daugtherboard cover.

Step 19 | Pry up the daughterboard cover

Insert the point of a spudger underneath the top right edge of the daughterboard cover.

  • Pry upwards to loosen the daughterboard cover.
  • Do not remove the daughterboard cover all the way yet — it is still adhered to the loudspeaker.

Step 20 | Remove the daughterboard cover

Fold the daughterboard cover to the left, similar to opening a book.

Be careful when removing the black tape from the loudspeaker.

  • Remove the daughterboard cover.

Step 21 | Disconnect the interconnect and the antenna board cables

Disconnect the interconnect and antenna board cables using a spudger.

  • Pry the cable connectors straight up from their sockets.

Step 22 | Disconnect the fingerprint sensor and the interconnect cables

Use a spudger to carefully pry the fingerprint sensor connector and interconnect cables straight up from their sockets.

Step 23 | Disconnect the display

Disconnect the display cable by gently prying the connector straight up with a spudger.

Step 24 | Unfasten the daughterboard

Remove the daughterboard screw with a Phillips driver.

Ensure the driver fits securely in the screw head.

Step 25 | Pry up the daughterboard

Do not attempt to fully remove the daughterboard — there is a remaining connection.

  • Insert the point of a spudger under the top edge of the daughterboard.
  • Pry upwards to loosen the daughterboard, but do not fully remove it yet.

Step 26 | Fold over the daughterboard

Hold the with one hand and use a blunt nose tweezers to gently bend it over towards the battery.

Step 27 | Disconnect the antenna cable

Insert the tweezers under the black antenna cable, securing them against the metal connector.

  • Pry the upper antenna cable straight up from the daughterboard.

Step 28 | Remove the daughterboard

Remove the daughterboard.
