OnePlus 9 Pro Screen Replacement

Taping the screen before removal prevents shards from scattering.

  • Replace the cracked screen on your OnePlus 9 Pro as per this guide.
  • Apply tape to the cracked screen to secure shards during removal.
  • Use a heat gun with caution: risk of burns to skin or nearby surfaces.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Discharge battery below 25% before disassembly to prevent thermal events.

  • Remove all external devices (chargers, peripherals).
  • Power off the phone completely.

Ensure the rear glass is protected with a secure covering to prevent further damage.

Use a hair dryer to lightly heat the perimeter of the rear glass.

  • Also, apply gentle heat to the top-right corner, where there is adhesive further inside the phone.

Do not hold the hair dryer in one spot on the phone for too long to prevent damage to internal parts.

Apply a suction handle near the bottom edge.

  • Pull up firmly on the suction handle to create a gap between the glass and frame.
  • If a gap doesn't form, apply more heat to soften the adhesive further.
  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Slide the opening pick around the perimeter of the rear glass to slice the adhesive.

  • Insert additional opening picks as you slice the adhesive to prevent resealing.
  • If the adhesive becomes hard to cut, it has cooled down; use your hair dryer to reheat it.

Carefully lift the rear glass up and off the phone.

  • To reassemble, secure the rear glass with either pre-cut adhesive or double-sided tape.
  • Apply strong, steady pressure to your phone for several minutes after installing the rear glass. A stack of heavy books works well.

Step 7 | Bottom Loudspeaker

Remove the wireless charging cable adhesive with an opening pick.

Remove the press connector ribbon cable from the flash module.

  • Insert a spudger under the bottom edge and pry straight up.

Be careful not to damage the flash module's delicate components.

  • Use an opening pick to remove the flash module by the camera.

Remove the motherboard cover.

  • Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove eleven 4.9 mm-long screws.
  • Pry off the motherboard cover using an opening pick.

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove five screws that secure the lower daughterboard cover.

  • Two white-headed screws, 4.8 mm-long, go in the bottom right corner of both boards.
  • Three black screws, also 4.8 mm-long, remain to be removed.

  • Insert a spudger under each interconnect cable lip.
  • Pry straight up to disconnect the cables.

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the loudspeaker in place.

Use a spudger to carefully pry up the loudspeaker and then remove it.

Step 13 | Battery

Carefully peel back the adhesive using an opening pick or tweezers.

Careful handling required due to fragile wiring.

  • Use a pick to pry off the bottom of the flash module.
  • Pinch with tweezers to access underneath without damaging the module.
  • When unplugging, be extremely careful not to damage the delicate cable.

Remove the motherboard cover using an 11-point Phillips head screwdriver.

  • Unscrew the eleven 4.8 mm screws.

Be careful not to damage any surrounding components.

  • Use picks to gently pry the motherboard cover away from the phone.

Remove the motherboard cover.

Do not damage the press connector ribbon cable.

  • Pry up the press connector ribbon cable in the top right using a spudger.
  • Disconnect the cable.

Disconnect the interconnect cables from the motherboard using a spudger.

  • Pry the connector straight up from its socket.

Bending or puncturing the battery can cause leaks and fires.

  • Slowly pull up on the red tabs to remove the battery.
  • If stuck, apply a heated iOpener to the screen side for two minutes to loosen adhesive.
  • Use a heat source like a hair dryer or hot plate with caution to avoid overheating the device.

Remove the ribbon cable connecting the screen using a spudger.

Position the suction cup at the lower part of the screen, adhering to the glass.

When using a heat gun, exercise caution to avoid burns.

  • Apply the heat gun to the edges of the screen.
  • This will loosen the adhesive holding the screen in place.

Insert the jimmy at the bottom edge of the screen.

  • Use an opening pick to carefully cut the adhesive, and place additional picks around the edges as you work to prevent re-adhesion.
  • If necessary, reheat the screen to assist with removal.

  • Pull up gently on the suction cup to separate the screen from the phone.
