OnePlus 9 Pro Overheating Issues

This troubleshooting guide helps you identify and resolve issues causing your OnePlus 9 Pro to overheat upon turning it on.

Step 1 | Overuse of Apps and Systems

Check for open background apps causing overheating and battery drain.

  • Swipe up and hold from the bottom of the screen (with gestures) or tap the three horizontal lines button (with buttons) to view open apps.
  • Press the clear all button at the bottom of the screen to close background apps.

Leave only essential apps running simultaneously to prevent overheating and battery drain.

Step 2 | Software Issues

Restart the phone by holding volume up and power button simultaneously.

  • Swipe upwards to complete the restart.
  • If overheating persists, check for app updates in the Google Play Store:
    • Search for updates and install them as needed.

Step 3 | Internet Connection Overloaded

Continuous internet traffic overload can cause processor delays and overheating.

  • Restart your phone by holding volume up and power buttons simultaneously, then swiping upwards to restart.
  • Try turning off airplane mode, waiting for 10 seconds, and enabling it again to reset the modem.
  • If overheating persists, refer to the battery replacement guide as excessive heat can damage your battery.
