OnePlus 9 Pro Charging Port Replacement

This guide is intended for users experiencing issues with their OnePlus 9 Pro's charging port or wireless charging functionality.

  • This tutorial will walk you through the process of disassembling the device and replacing the charging port or wireless charging cable.

Step 1 | Rear Glass

Discharge your battery to below 25% before disassembling to avoid thermal events.

  • Remove all external power sources: unplug chargers and peripherals, then power off the device.

Tape over a cracked rear glass panel before continuing.

Use a hair dryer to lightly warm the edges of the rear glass.

  • Focus heat on the top-right corner, where additional adhesive is applied.
  • Do not hold the hair dryer in one spot for too long to prevent damage.

Apply a suction handle near the bottom edge.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong force to create a gap between the glass and frame.
  • If no gap forms, apply more heat before proceeding.

  • Insert an opening pick into the created gap.

Slide an opening pick around the perimeter of the rear glass to start slicing the adhesive.

  • Insert additional opening picks as you cut, spaced about a foot apart, to prevent the adhesive from resealing.
  • If the adhesive becomes hard to cut, it has cooled down. Use a hair dryer to reheat it before proceeding.

Apply firm pressure for 5 minutes to ensure the rear glass adheres properly.

  • Lift the rear glass carefully off the phone.
  • Secure the rear glass with pre-cut adhesive or double-sided tape.
  • To aid adhesion, place a stack of heavy books on your phone for several minutes.

Step 7 | Bottom Loudspeaker

Remove the lower part of the wireless charging cable using an opening pick.

Unplug the press connector ribbon cable from the flash module by inserting a spudger under the bottom edge and prying straight up.

  • Remove the flash module using an opening pick to carefully pry it off, working from the camera side.
  • Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the eleven 4.9 mm-long screws holding the motherboard cover in place.
  • Pry off the motherboard cover using an opening pick.

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove five screws.

  • Remove two white-headed, 4.8 mm-long screws from the bottom right corner of the daughter and mother board.
  • Remove three other black-headed, 4.8 mm-long screws from elsewhere on the motherboard.

  • Insert a spudger under the lip of each interconnect cable.
  • Pry straight up to disconnect both cables.

Remove the screws from the loudspeaker with a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

Remove the loudspeaker using a spudger.

Step 13 | Charging Port

  • Insert aSIM eject tool,battery release tool bit, or a straightened paper clip into the SIM card tray hole on the bottom edge of the phone.
  • Press firmly to eject the tray — risk of damage if pressed too hard.

  • Remove the SIM card tray.

Locate the charging port and insert a spudger into the gap between the port and its frame.

  • Pry upwards, applying gentle pressure to release the connector.

Use a spudger to unclip the ribbon cable on the bottom left side of the daughter board.

  • (Note: Be careful when handling the ribbon cable.)
  • Insert a spudger under the lip of the upper-left interconnect cable press connector and pry it straight up to disconnect it.

Disconnect all coaxial network cables using a spudger.

  • Pry each cable straight up to release.
  • Ensure all connections are completely removed from the daughterboard.

Use the spudger to pry the daughter board loose from its position at the top.

Use the spudger to pry off the USB charging port and the ribbon cable from the right side.

  • Continue prying until the charging port is removed.
