Retaining water resistance may be compromised after repair due to reapplying adhesive.
Turn off your phone and remove all cables.
Apply a suction handle to the center of the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.
Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear glass and frame.
Slide an opening pick to the bottom right corner to cut the adhesive.
Do not remove the pick as it prevents the adhesive from reforming.
Insert a second opening pick under the bottom edge of the rear glass, into the gap you just created.
Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the edge for two minutes if you have trouble slicing.
Insert a fourth opening pick under the top left corner of the rear glass.
Insert an additional opening pick at the top right corner of the rear glass.
Careful not to damage the screen — risk of costly repairs.
To avoid reassembly issues:
Remove any sticker covering a top-right corner screw.
Locate and gently pry the plastic clips holding the loudspeaker in place.
Remove the loudspeaker.
Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or straightened paper clip into the SIM card tray hole.
Remove the SIM card tray.
Disengage the antenna board cable from the daughterboard using a spudger. Prise the connector upwards, away from its socket.
Disconnect the fingerprint reader cable from the daughterboard using a spudger.
Disconnect the interconnect cable from the daughterboard using a spudger.
Disconnect the black antenna cable using a spudger with the pointed tip.
Do not press down on the cable connectors or pry the cables at an angle.
Use tweezers or your fingers to carefully lift the black antenna cable from its clip on the daughterboard.
Disconnect the white antenna cable using a pointed spudger to lift it straight out from its socket on the motherboard.
During reassembly, ensure the antenna cables are seated in their channels before securing them to the clips.
Remove the daughterboard screw using a Phillips driver.
Remove the daughterboard using a pair of tweezers or your fingers.
Position the spudger at the bottom right corner of the frame.
Reattach the back cover to prevent damage to internal components.
Turn the phone over with the screen facing upwards.
Apply gentle heat to the screen to loosen adhesives.
Apply a suction handle to the center of the screen's bottom edge as close to the edge as possible.
Do not apply excessive force, which may damage the screen further.
With steady force, pull up on the suction handle and insert an iFlex between the screen and frame.
Be cautious when working with heat, as prolonged exposure may cause damage. If still having trouble, apply more heat to the bottom edge and attempt again.
Insert a opening pick between the iFlex and the screen.
Insert a second opening pick between the iFlex and the screen.
Reheat the adhesive with your iOpener or heat gun if it becomes hard to cut.
Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner of the screen.
Insert a fifth opening pick under top right screen corner and slide down right edge.
Do not try to fully remove display yet — display cables are still in midframe.
If stuck, slide an opening pick around the perimeter to separate the screen.
Remove the screen.
