OnePlus 8 Rear Camera Replacement

Power off your device completely before proceeding to prevent risk of injury or additional damage.

  • Refer to the OnePlus 8 troubleshooting page on iFixit for camera issue troubleshooting tips.
  • Replacing the rear camera can restore photo quality and functionality, ensuring optimal performance.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Step 1 image

Power down your phone completely and disconnect any cables.

  • Heat an iOpener and apply it to the rear glass for two minutes.
  • Note: Alternative heat sources (hair dryer, heat gun, hot plate) can be used, but extreme temperatures may damage the display or internal battery. Apply heat with caution.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the center of the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.

If your display is badly cracked, cover it with a layer of clear packing tape to help the suction cup adhere. Alternatively, you can pull using very strong tape instead of a suction cup. If all else fails, try supergluing the suction cup to the broken screen.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear glass and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Step 3 | Slice the bottom edge adhesive

  • During reassembly: Secure with pre-cut adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape.
  • After installing, apply strong pressure for several minutes to aid in bonding.
