OnePlus 8 Loudspeaker Replacement

Note: This repair may compromise water resistance due to loss of IP rating, but only affects T-Mobile (IN2017) and Verizon (IN2019) models.

  • Purchase replacement adhesive for the rear glass as you'll need it to complete this repair.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Step 1 image

Power off your phone and remove all cables.

  • Apply heat to the rear glass using an iOpener for two minutes.

Use caution when applying excessive heat with a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate as it can damage the display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the center of the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.

If your display is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape to help the suction cup adhere. Alternatively, use very strong tape instead of a suction cup, or superglue the suction cup to the broken screen if necessary.

  • Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear glass and frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Step 3 | Slice the bottom edge adhesive
