A malfunctioning light sensor can cause screen issues — risk of display problems if not addressed.
Power off your phone and unplug all cables before proceeding.
Apply a suction handle to the center of the bottom edge of the rear glass, as close to the edge as possible.
If your display is badly cracked, cover it with clear packing tape for better adhesion.
Pull up on the suction handle with strong, steady force to create a gap between the rear glass and frame.
Once a gap is created, insert an opening pick into it carefully.
Leave the pick in place to prevent resealing of the adhesive.
Insert a second opening pick under the bottom edge of the rear glass, into the gap you created.
Reheat the iOpener and apply it to the edge for 2 minutes if slicing is difficult.
Insert a fourth opening pick under the top left corner of the rear glass.
Remove the rear glass.
Apply strong pressure for several minutes after installation to ensure adhesive forms a good bond.
During reassembly: secure the rear glass with pre-cut adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape.
Remove any covering stickers from the motherboard cover.
Locate and pry open the motherboard cover by inserting a flat-end spudger under its center edge.
Remove the motherboard cover.
When re-attaching press connectors: do not press in the middle, as this can cause permanent damage. Instead, carefully align and press down on one side until it clicks, then repeat on the other side.
Disconnect the three camera press connectors using a opening tool.
Disconnect and remove the rear camera module.
Disconnect the front camera press connector with an opening tool.
Disconnect all three press connectors from the motherboard using a opening tool.
Use the opening tool to carefully pry the motherboard free.
Insert a opening tool into the gap between the light sensor and chassis.
Pry the light sensor up and out using the opening tool.
