OnePlus 7T Rear Glass Replacement

This guide is for replacing a damaged rear glass on a OnePlus 7T. Replacement adhesive will be required to secure components during reassembly.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Step 1 image

Power off your phone before starting.

  • Apply a heated iOpener to the rear glass for two minutes to loosen adhesive.
  • Alternatives: use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate (but be cautious of overheating).

Prevent heat damage by avoiding excessive temperatures near the AMOLED display and internal battery.

Step 2 | Insert an opening pick

Apply a suction handle to the right edge of the rear glass.

  • If the back cover is cracked, try lifting it with strong tape or superglue the suction handle in place and allow it to cure.
  • Pull on the suction handle to create a gap between the rear glass and the frame.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

Slide the opening pick along the edge to the bottom right corner.

Do not leave the phone unattended with an opening pick inserted, as the adhesive may reseal.

  • Leave the opening pick in the bottom right corner.
  • You can now remove the suction handle or continue using it for a better grip during this process.

Step 4

Insert a second opening pick into the gap.

  • Slide it along the edge to the top right corner.
  • If slicing is difficult, use the iOpener again to soften the adhesive.

  • Leave the opening pick in place at the top right corner to prevent resealing of the adhesive.

  • Leave the opening pick in place at the top left corner to prevent resealing.

Remove the rear glass.

  • Clean relevant areas with isopropyl alcohol (>90%) and apply new adhesive where necessary.
  • Secure the new back cover using pre-cut adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape.

Apply strong, steady pressure to your phone for several minutes after installing the back cover. A stack of heavy books can help facilitate adhesion.
