OnePlus 7T Battery Cover Replacement

Charging the battery below 25% reduces the risk of fire/explosion during disassembly.

  • Prepare your OnePlus 7T by charging its battery to below 25% before proceeding.

Insert the SIM card ejector tool or an unfolded paperclip into the small hole on the left side of the top edge.

Press gently to avoid damaging the phone.

  • Eject the SIM tray by pressing down firmly on the tool.
  • Remove the SIM card tray from the device.

Orient the new SIM card with gold contacts up and notch at bottom right, then press it gently into place.

Apply gentle heat to the back panel's edges with a heat gun to loosen the adhesive.

  • Use a heat gun, hair dryer, or hot plate for this process.

Be cautious when handling the heated frame, as it may be hot to the touch.

Avoid overheating; excessive heat can damage internal components such as the OLED display, battery, and other parts.

  • Heat for approximately one minute to soften the adhesive.

Alternatively, an iFixit iOpener, hair dryer, or hot plate can be used; consult the iOpener Heating guide for usage instructions.

Apply a suction cup to the lower part of the phone's back cover.

  • Pull firmly to create a crack between the back cover and the rest of the phone.
  • Insert a Jimmy tool, opening pick, or plastic card under the edge of the back cover.

Insert a plastic card or Jimmy tool into the phone's seam and gently pry it open.

Be careful not to apply too much pressure, which can cause damage to internal components.

Remove the phone's back cover.

  • Use a Jimmy tool to remove any remaining adhesive from the device frame.

Be careful not to scratch the device frame when removing adhesive strips.

Step 6

Remove and clean the battery cover area.

  • Apply new battery cover adhesive to the cleaned area.
