OnePlus 7 Pro Screen Replacement

Be extremely cautious with your OnePlus 7 Pro's battery: never charge above 25% if you plan to open it, as a short or punctured battery can cause fire/explosion. Always discharge below this threshold before disassembling.

Insert a SIM card ejector tool or an unfolded paperclip into the small hole on the left side of the top edge.

Press gently to avoid damaging the mechanism.

  • Eject the SIM tray using the inserted tool.
  • Remove the SIM card tray from the device.

Orient the new SIM card with gold contacts up and notch at bottom right for reinsertion.

  • Gently press the SIM card into the SIM tray slot.

Heat the back's edges with a heat gun, using a low setting, for about 1 minute to soften the adhesive.

Be cautious when handling the metal frame as it may become hot to the touch.

  • Use an iFixit iOpener following its guide for alternative heating instructions.
  • Alternatively, use a hair dryer or hot plate on low heat.

Avoid overheating, as this can damage the OLED display, battery, and other internal components.

  • Apply a suction cup to the lower portion of the phone's backing.

  • Pull firmly to create a crack between the back cover and the rest of the phone.
  • Insert a Jimmy tool, opening pick, or plastic card under the edge of the back cover.

Insert a plastic card or Jimmy tool into the phone's edge and carefully pry the adhesive apart by slicing along the seam.

Remove the phone's back cover.

  • If replacement adhesive strips are available, use a Jimmy tool to remove any remaining adhesive from the device frame.

Remove the black tape covering the laser autofocus and flash flex cable using a pair of tweezers.

  • Hold the tweezers as close to the tape as possible.
  • Gently lift up the tape with the tweezers, working from one end to the other.

Disconnect the laser autofocus and flash flex cable using the flat end of a spudger.

Remove the plastic motherboard cover by unscrewing all fourteen Phillips #000 screws using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

Use the flat end of a spudger to gently pry up the plastic motherboard cover.

  • Lift and remove the plastic motherboard cover.

Use the flat end of a spudger to carefully disconnect the power flex cable.

  • Disconnect the longer black coaxial cable using the flat end of a spudger.
  • Next, use the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the white coaxial cable.
  • Finally, release the shorter black coaxial cable with the flat end of a spudger.

  • Disconnect the display and touch flex cable using the flat end of a spudger.
  • Remove the main flex cable from its connector.
  • Also disconnect the USB port cable.

Disconnect the black cable using the flat end of a spudger on the left-hand side.

  • Pry up the long black cable on the left-hand side of the phone using the flat end of a spudger.
  • Disconnect the end of the long black cable with the flat end of the same spudger.

Use tweezers to carefully pry up the red plastic tab.

  • Remove any connected assembly using tweezers.

Use the flat end of a spudger to disengage the connector under the red plastic tab.

Remove the motherboard mounting screws with a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

  • Use the flat end of a spudger to gently lift up the phone's motherboard.
  • Once lifted, carefully remove the motherboard.

Remove two Phillips #000 screws using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

  • Remove another Phillips #000 screw using the same screwdriver.

Remove the camera elevator assembly with a pair of tweezers.

Lift up the large flex cable with your fingers.

Use a pair of tweezers to carefully remove the black plastic screw cover.

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove two small screws.

  • From the metal covering.
  • Then, lift off the metal covering.

Remove the front camera assembly with the flat end of a spudger or your fingers, taking care not to damage any surrounding components.

Remove the Phillips #000 screw in the upper left-hand corner.

  • Disconnect the earpiece's yellow flex cable using tweezers.
  • Remove the earpiece using tweezers.

Remove the battery.

  • Pull the red sticker up from its tab.

Grab the black tab with your fingers and pull out the plastic cover.

  • Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove eight screws.
  • Pry up the bottom cover with the flat end of a spudger.
  • Remove the bottom cover.

  • Disconnect the fingerprint sensor, LED flex cable, CED flex cable, and display and touch flex cable using a spudger's flat end.

  • Disconnect the three coaxial cables at the phone's base using the flat end of a spudger.
  • To release the longest coaxial cable, carefully pry it loose from its retaining clips.

  • Lift the sub-board with the flat end of a spudger.
  • Remove the phone's sub-board.

Remove the black adhesive strips from the battery compartment using a pair of tweezers.

Remove two Phillips #000 screws from the left-hand side of the phone's frame using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

  • Use a pair of tweezers to remove the plastic piece secured by the previously removed screws.

Remove the coaxial cable with a flat spudger.

Be careful not to damage the cable.

Locate and remove it from the left-hand side of the battery's area.
