OnePlus 7 Pro Battery Replacement

This repair guide helps you swap out the battery in your OnePlus 7 Pro smartphone.

Step 1 | OnePlus 7 Pro Battery Cover Replacement

Insert a SIM card ejector tool or an unfolded paperclip into the small hole on the left side of the top edge.

  • Press gently to eject the SIM tray.
  • Remove the SIM card tray from the device.
  • Ensure the gold contacts face up and the notch is at bottom right when reinserting the SIM card.

  • Reinsert the SIM card by pressing it gently into the slot.

Excessive heat can damage internal components; work carefully.

  • Use a heat gun to lightly heat back edges (approx. 1 min) and soften adhesive.
  • Carefully handle hot metal frame, as it will be warm to the touch.

Avoid overheating device; OLED display, battery, and internal parts are susceptible to damage.

Apply a suction cup to the lower portion of the phone's backing and pull firmly.

Create a crack between the back cover and the rest of the phone before proceeding.

  • Insert a Jimmy tool, opening pick, or plastic card under the edge of the back cover.

Insert a plastic card or Jimmy tool into the gap between the phone's body and case, carefully slicing along the seam.

Remove the phone's back cover.

  • If replacing, use a Jimmy tool to remove any remaining adhesive from the device frame.

Use a pair of tweezers to lift up the black tape covering the laser autofocus and flash flex cable.

  • Remove the black tape completely using tweezers.

Disconnect the laser autofocus and flash flex cable using the flat end of a spudger.

Remove and discard the adhesive cover.

Step 9 | Remove upper plate

Remove the 14 screws from the upper plate using a PH00 bit.

  • One screw is hidden under a white sticker – use your screwdriver to punch through it.
  • Once all screws are removed, carefully pry off the upper plate with a spudger.

Step 10 | Disconnect Battery

Use a spudger to disconnect the battery connector.

Be careful of glued parts — risk of damage if pulled too hard.

  • Grasp the tab firmly with your fingers.
  • Pull the Battery out gently from its seated position.

Step 12 | Battery Calibration

Calibrate the new battery by charging to full, then keeping it plugged in for 2 hours.

Let the battery completely drain without interruption.

Charge the battery to full one last time without stopping.

  • This step helps your phone recognize and determine its maximum capacity.
  • Calibration is highly recommended after installing a new battery.
