OnePlus 6T Motherboard Replacement

Make sure to handle the device carefully to avoid damage.

  • Remove the back cover
  • Replace the motherboard with a new one for your OnePlus 6T

Step 1 | Back Cover

Ensure the phone is completely powered down.

  • Position the phone on a stable surface with the back cover facing upwards.

Insert SIM card removal tool into the small hole on the upper-left side of the phone.

Remove the SIM card carefully from its tray to avoid damage.

Apply gentle heat to loosen binding glue using a hairdryer or iOpener.

  • If using a hairdryer, hold at least eight inches away from the phone and apply heat in circular motions around the edges for two minutes.

Insert a Jimmy under a heated corner of the phone.

  • Gently lift the phone with the Jimmy, then insert a plastic card underneath the slightly lifted lip on the back cover.
  • Glide the card carefully under the lifted phone casing; some tension is normal due to adhesive removal.

Remove the back cover from the phone and clean the area thoroughly.

  • Use high-concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to remove all adhesive residue from the back cover and frame.

Step 5 | Front Camera

  • Remove 3mm Phillips #00 screws securing the metal battery cover.
  • Use tweezers to carefully remove the battery cover and set it aside.

Remove eight 3mm Phillips #00 screws.

  • The screws secure the midframe to the phone.
  • They are located in the usual places, but be sure not to strip them.

Use a spudger to gently remove the midframe and set it aside.

Use a spudger to lift the light brown tab in the middle of the phone.

  • The tab is responsible for connecting/disconnecting the front camera.
  • Once lifted, remove the front camera from the phone.

Step 9 | Motherboard

Remove the 3mm Phillips #00 screw located to the right of the top rear camera.

Step 10

  • Disconnect the charging port flex connector, main flex connector, and screen flex connector using a spudger.

Step 11

Disconnect the signal cables on the right side of the motherboard using a spudger.

Use a spudger to carefully disconnect the slider from the top of the phone.

Never try to remove the slider from the sides, as it is extremely delicate.

  • Gently pull the motherboard away from the left side.
  • Once freed, carefully remove the motherboard from the phone.
