OnePlus 6 Volume Button Replacement

Power button issues can cause no response to commands when pressed.

  • Check for debris between buttons and phone, or loose connectors, as these may disrupt signal transmission.
  • Remove any outside power sources and turn off the device before proceeding.

Be cautious: glass back panel can shatter if handled carelessly.

  • Back panel removal tool required to safely remove glass cover.
  • Locate and carefully pry out the back panel for access.

Step 1 | Back Panel

Be careful not to overheat or melt the plastic with the heat gun.

  • Turn on the heat gun to low heat and gently heat the curved edges on the back of the phone.
  • Wedge the opening picks between the front and back panel, then slide them around the perimeter to break the adhesive securing the back cover.
  • Repeat until the back panel is fully released.

Be careful when lifting the back panel to avoid damaging the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable.

Step 3

Use tweezers to gently pull up on the red tab.

  • Disconnect the cable from the device.
  • Remove the back panel.

Step 4 | Battery

Hold the green release tab and gently lift the battery straight up.

Step 5 | Fingerprint sensor

Locate the plastic midframe situated above the battery space.

  • Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove ten 3 mm screws from the midframe.
  • Be aware of the 10th screw, located underneath the round white sticker with a green circle at the bottom left.

  • Do not remove the screw next to it marked with an orange circle, as this will damage the midframe board.

Lift the bottom of the midframe directly up and carefully remove it from the device.

Step 6 | Motherboard

Remove the 10 screws with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  • Remove the motherboard mounting clips by prying loose the small metal tabs near the battery compartment.
  • Use a fingernail to carefully work under the edge of the motherboard and pry it up from the phone.
  • The cameras should lift with the motherboard.

Step 8 | Volume Button

Remove two 2.3 mm screws with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Remove the plastic cover by lifting the metal tab with tweezers.

  • Lift the open side of the metal tab first.
  • Use the same tweezers to lift the other side and pull out the cover.

Step 10

Use tweezers to carefully remove the volume buttons.
