OnePlus 6 Screen Replacement

Avoid electric shock by discharging the battery to at least 25% capacity and powering off your OnePlus 6 before starting.

  • If the screen is severely cracked, apply clear packing tape or strong tape for suction cup adhesion or superglue it as a last resort.

Step 1 | Back Panel

Do not apply excessive heat or let the heat gun get out of control, as this can damage the phone's plastic components.

  • Preheat the back of the phone using a low-temperature heat gun, focusing on the curved edges.
  • Insert the opening picks into the gap between the front and back panels, then work them around the perimeter to loosen the adhesive securing the back cover.
  • Repeat this process until the entire back panel is released.

Be gentle when lifting the back panel to avoid damaging the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable.

Remove the back panel using a firm grip.

  • Tweezers will be needed to carefully lift and release the red tab, disconnecting the cable.

Step 4 | Battery

Grasp the green tab attached to the battery and lift it straight up.

Step 5 | Speaker

Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the eight screws.

  • Lift the speaker carefully up and out of the chassis.
  • If you're replacing the screen, skip to Step 9.

Align the new speaker unit according to its label.

  • Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to secure the speaker with the eight removed screws.

Step 7

Reconnect the battery to its original port, ensuring a secure fit.

Firmly press the connector in place to prevent damage or disconnection.

  • Replace the red cover over the port, securing it properly.

Step 8

Remove old adhesive from back cover using adhesive remover.

  • Apply new adhesive tape around entire perimeter of back cover.
  • Reattach back cover and hold firmly in place for approximately one minute to allow adhesive to set.

Step 9 | Screen

Use tweezers to carefully lift the tab holding the audio jack in place.

  • Gently grasp the tab with the tips of the tweezers.
  • Pull the tab away from the speaker assembly until the audio jack is free.

Step 10

Remove the band, then carefully lift the audio jack from the phone.

Remove the white and black leads by gently lifting them up using tweezers.

  • Lift the band connector on the left side of the assembly up with tweezers to disconnect it.
  • Lift the band connector at the top of the assembly up with tweezers to disconnect it.

Step 12

Use tweezers to carefully lift the circuit board out of the assembly.

  • Remove the circuit board from the assembly.
  • Set aside for future reinstallation.

Step 13

Use a heat gun on its lowest temperature setting to loosen the adhesive.

  • Gently heat the perimeter of the screen.
  • Insert an opening pick between the screen and chassis, then slide it around the entire perimeter.
  • Pry the screen away from the chassis gently.
  • Reheat as needed to maintain a smooth separation.

Step 14

Use a plastic spudger to gently pry the screen from the frame.

  • Thread the tab through the bracket.
  • The screen should now be removed from the phone.
