OnePlus 5T Speaker Replacement

Follow this guide for removing and replacing the speaker on a OnePlus 5T device.

Step 1 | Back Cover

Switch off your phone.

  • Remove the SIM card tray.

Remove the Torx T2 screws, two in total.

Be cautious when prying open, as the strong clamps may require significant force.

Insert a credit card or similar tool between the display and the backcover at the bottom.

  • Use the tool to create a small gap between the back cover and display.
  • Insert an opening pick into the gap you just created.

Position the first opening pick in the bottom right corner.

  • Insert a second opening pick.
  • Slide this second pick to the bottom left corner.

  • Insert the opening pick into the bottom left corner of the phone.
  • Work the pick up along the left edge, applying gentle pressure until the plastic clamps release.

  • Slide a pick into the bottom right corner.
  • Work the pick up the right edge, releasing the clamps.

Do not completely remove the back cover yet.

  • The fingerprint sensor cable, charging port cable, and headphone jack cable are still attached to the motherboard.
  • Lift the bottom end of the back cover away from the phone assembly, then fold it left and hold at an 80° angle.

Use a spudger to carefully pry up the fingerprint flex cable from its socket.

Twist the back cover approximately 180 degrees, then lay it down with the bottom end aligned at the top edge of the battery.

Remove the small metal shield covering the battery, charging port, and headphone jack connections using a pair of tweezers.

Use a spudger to carefully pry up the charging port and headphone jack flex cable, then disconnect it.

Remove the back cover.

Step 13 | Battery Disconnect

Remove the battery flex cable by prying it loose with a spudger.

Step 14 | Speaker

Remove six Phillips #00 screws, each 2.9 mm in length.

Insert an opening pick on the left side of the speaker.

  • Pry the speaker upward using the opening pick.
  • Continue prying until the speaker is free from its recess.

Remove the speaker.
