OnePlus 5T Back Cover Replacement

Remove the back cover of your OnePlus 5T using this guide.

Switch off your phone and remove the SIM card tray.

Remove two Torx T2 screws with a length of 2.5 mm.

Be prepared to apply significant force when prying open the backcover, as the clamps are very strong.

Locate the bottom end of the phone.

  • opening tool between the display and the backcover.
  • opening pick into the gap you just created.

Insert a pick at the bottom right corner.

  • Slide the pick to the correct position.
  • Repeat with another pick, inserting it at the bottom left corner.

  • Position the opening pick at the bottom left corner.
  • Gently slide it up along the left edge to release the plastic clamps.

  • Insert an opening pick into the bottom right corner.
  • Sweep the pick upwards along the right edge, releasing the plastic clamps.

Leave the back cover attached until you're ready to remove it completely.

  • Note: The fingerprint sensor, charging port, and headphone jack flex cables are still connected to the motherboard.
  • Flip your phone over and carefully lift the bottom end of the back cover away from the phone assembly.
  • Fold the back cover to the left and hold it at an 80° angle.

Disconnect the fingerprint flex cable with a spudger.

Twist the back cover 180° clockwise.

Lay the back cover down, ensuring the bottom aligns with the top battery edge.

Remove the small metal shield using a pair of tweezers.

  • The shield covers the battery, charging port, and headphone jack flex cable connectors.

Use a spudger to gently pry up and release the charging port and headphone jack flex cable.

Remove the back cover.
