This repair guide is for replacing a damaged AMOLED Screen & Digitizer on your OnePlus 5T, leaving the original frame and motherboard intact.
Switch off your phone.
Remove the Torx T2 screws using a Torx driver (2.5 mm length).
Be prepared for the clamps to be very tight and may require significant force to open.
Insert an opening tool between the display and the back cover at the bottom end.
Position the first opening pick in the top right corner and gently slide it down to the bottom right corner.
Keep the backcover attached by the fingerprint, charging port, and headphone flex cables.
Disconnect the fingerprint flex cable using a spudger.
Twist the backcover by approximately 180 degrees, then place it upside-down so that its bottom edge is aligned with the top edge of the battery.
Remove the small metal shield using a pair of tweezers.
Use a spudger to gently pry up the charging port and headphone jack flex cable, then carefully disconnect it.
Remove the back cover.
Use a spudger to gently pry up the battery flex cable and disconnect it.
Remove the six Phillips #00 screws, each 2.9 mm in length.
Insert the opening pick into the gap on the left side of the speaker.
Disconnect and remove the speaker.
Disconnect the display flex cable using a spudger.
Apply heat using an iOpener if necessary.
Apply iOpener to screen and edges for 2+ minutes.
Inspect the phone's screen for cracks, as a cracked screen may prevent the suction handle from adhering.
Insert a second opening pick at the bottom left corner.
Insert another opening pick at the bottom left corner of the phone.
If cuts become stubborn, reheat and reapply the iOpener.
Insert a fourth opening pick at the top left corner.
Insert a fifth opening pick along the right edge of the phone to separate remaining adhesive.
Be cautious not to fully remove the display yet, as the display cable may still be threaded through the frame and adhered to the midframe.
Thread the display flex cable through the gap in the midframe.
Remove the display completely before proceeding.
