This repair guide covers removal of the power button and volume buttons. It can be used for replacement of either, or both parts. Please note that some illustrations may depict the battery and rear-facing camera module already removed; they do not need to be.
Insert a SIM card eject tool, bit, or a straightened paperclip into the small hole below the SIM card tray.
Properly orient the SIM tray during reassembly to avoid damaging it.
Remove the two 2.6mm T2 screws situated above and below the USB-C port on the phone's bottom edge.
Risk of damaging display panel if procedure not followed correctly.
Two distinct seams: do not pry at Display Panel Seam, as it separates display assembly.
Accidental power-on can cause damage; turn off phone if this occurs.
Substantial force is required due to tight tolerances; consider using a new opening tool with an unmarred edge for assistance.
Slide the opening tool along the bottom edge of the phone.
Use the opening tool to lever and release the first clip.
Continue sliding the opening tool along the long edge, releasing clips as you go.
Wiggle the frame gently to release the top and right edge clips.
Pause here and test your phone's functionality before securing the back cover.
Careful not to stress the flex cable.
Remove the 2.6 mm Phillips screw securing the cable bracket.
Risk of pin bending if connector is misaligned.
Remove the back cover.
Use the point of a spudger to gently pry up the battery connector from its socket.
Locate the loudspeaker assembly and insert the flat end of a spudger into its corner.
Pry the loudspeaker slightly to loosen it from its recess.
Remove the loudspeaker.
Ensure the display cable connector remains securely fastened under the loudspeaker assembly during reinstallation.
Locate the interconnect flex cable and use the point of a spudger to carefully pry it up and disconnect it from the socket.
Insert the point of a spudger into the gap between the cable and its socket.
Slide the spudger point under the antenna interconnect cable, then pry it loose.
Locate the small square antenna connector near the top edge of the motherboard.
Remove the Phillips screws using a screwdriver.
Use your fingers to lift up the top edge of the motherboard.
Handle the black tape carefully to avoid tearing it, as you'll need it for re-assembly.
If you tear the tape, replace it with electrical tape for re-assembly purposes.
Use the edge of an opening tool to carefully pry the volume button board away from the frame.
Remove volume buttons before proceeding.
For a used frame, cut Tesa tape or pre-cut adhesive card and stick volume button board back onto the frame.
Repeat the previous two steps.
If transferring the button, peel the blue liner on the left edge to expose adhesive.
