OnePlus 5 Motherboard Replacement

The following steps are necessary to remove and replace the motherboard in a OnePlus 5:

  • Begin by carefully removing the frame clips that hold the back cover in place. This is often the most challenging part of the process.
  • Once the back cover is removed, proceed with disconnecting any cables and components attached to the motherboard.

Improperly opening the display panel can result in damage.

  • Read through these steps before proceeding to ensure proper execution.
  • Locate two distinct seams between the body and screen:
    • Display panel seam: Part of the display assembly. Do not pry here or risk damage.
    • Frame seam: Where the plastic frame meets the back cover; prying should occur at this point only.
  • Beware of twelve clips securing the frame to the rear case during removal.
