Damage to the display panel can occur if these steps are not followed carefully.

  • Read through the following steps before attempting this procedure.
  • Familiarize yourself with two critical seams on your phone:

    • Display panel seam: Do not pry here, as it separates the display assembly and can cause damage.
    • Frame seam: Pry at this seam only to avoid damaging the display panel.
  • Be aware of twelve clips holding the frame against the rear case during the removal process.

Accidental power-on may damage components.

  • Turn off the phone if it powers on inadvertently.

Position a suction cup near the bottom display edge.

  • Pull the suction cup with steady, strong force.
  • Press an opening tool's edge into the frame seam, near the suction cup. The tool should wedge between the plastic frame and the back cover's lip.

Substantial force may be required due to tight tolerances. Consider using a new opening tool with an unmarred edge for this step.
