OnePlus 5 Daughterboard Replacement

Replacing the daughterboard may resolve issues with microphone, loudspeaker, and charging port functions.

  • Identify if your problem lies in the bottom half of the phone (e.g., microphone, loudspeaker, charging port).
  • The most challenging part is releasing the back cover's frame clips to access internal components.
  • Some guides may show a removed battery; however, it is not required for the daughterboard replacement process.

Step 1 | SIM Card Tray

Careful prying: risk of display panel damage if not done correctly.

  • Read through these steps before attempting to open your phone.
  • Locate the two seams between the body and screen:
    • Display panel seam: part of display assembly. Do not pry here.
    • Frame seam: where plastic frame meets back cover. Pry only at this seam.
  • Aware of the twelve clips holding frame against rear case as you pry back cover off.

Step 4

Accidental phone power-on can cause damage — turn off before resuming.

  • Place a suction cup near the bottom display edge.
  • Pull on the suction cup with strong steady force.
  • Press an opening tool's edge into the frame seam, just above the suction cup.

Tight tolerances require substantial force; use a new opening tool for best results.

Continue sliding the opening tool along the long edge, releasing clips as you go.

The top-left corner clip near the front-facing camera is recessed and may be tricky to release — take your time and use a flat-ended spudger or opening pick.

Step 8

Wiggle the frame gently to release the top and right edge clips.

Do not remove the back cover yet.

  • Pause here to test your phone's functionality before reassembling the back cover.
  • To reinstall the back cover:
    • Align the top edge of the frame with the back cover and ensure the top clips snap into place.
    • Squeeze along the long edges to secure the remaining clips.
