Insert the opening tool into place.
Use the opening tool to lever the first clip loose from the frame.
Continue sliding the opening tool along the long edge, releasing clips as you go.
The top-left corner clip near the front-facing camera is recessed and may be tricky to release — take your time and use a flat-ended spudger or opening pick.
Wiggle the frame gently to release the top and right edge clips.
Do not remove the back cover yet.
Flip the phone over so the display faces down.

Disconnect the back cover flex cable using a spudger.

When replacing the battery, secure the interconnect flex cable away from the phone with tape or a rubber band.
Use the point of a spudger to pry up the fingerprint scanner connector from its socket on the daughterboard.
Use a spudger to carefully pry up the antenna interconnect cable from its socket on the daughterboard.
Be careful not to damage the cable or socket.
Insert the flat end of the spudger under the microphone board and twist gently to loosen the adhesive.
If the daughterboard begins to bend significantly, stop and pry from a different angle.
Locate the daughterboard and insert the flat end of a spudger underneath it.
Apply gentle twisting motion while sliding the spudger slightly to release the daughterboard from its recess.
Remove the daughterboard.
