OnePlus 3 Back Cover Replacement
Remove the screws using a T5 screwdriver.
- There are 8 screws on the bottom to remove.
- Pry the frame clips gently free from the phone casing.
Step 1 | SIM Card Tray
Risk of damaging the SIM card or tray if misaligned during reassembly.
- Find the small hole between the SIM slot and power button.
- Insert a SIM eject tool, bit, or straightened paperclip into the hole.
- Press firmly to eject the SIM card tray.
- Reinsert with correct orientation, as the tray only fits one way.
Step 2 | Back Cover
- Remove two T2 screws, each with a 2.6mm diameter, from the bottom edge.
Step 3
- Warning: Improper prying can damage the display panel.
Improper prying may damage the display panel, so proceed with care.
Frame Seam, located on the back cover.
- Avoid the area around the Display Panel Seam as it's part of the display assembly.
- Pry at the identified Frame Seam to release the clips holding the frame to the rear case.
Make sure to target only the Frame Seam when prying, as there are 14 clips in total.
Step 4
Power off the phone before disassembly.
- Apply suction cup near display's bottom edge and pull firmly in one smooth motion.
- Insert opening tool with a new, undamaged edge into frame seam near suction cup. Apply steady pressure to separate plastic frame from back cover's lip.
Using metal tools may crack the screen; always use an opening tool with a pristine edge for optimal results due to tight tolerances.
Step 5
- Position the opening tool securely at the starting point.
- Slowly slide the tool along the bottom edge of the phone.
- Guide it around the left corner, staying within the seam.
Step 6
- Slide an opening tool along the long edge to release clips.
Be cautious when releasing the recessed clip in the top-left corner, using a flat spudger or opening pick carefully.
Step 7
Release the top and right edge clips by gently wiggling the frame.
- Lift the screen out of the phone body.
Test phone functionality during reassembly, pausing at this point, to ensure all components are securely attached.
- Align the top edge of the frame with the back cover.
- Verify that the top clips are securely seated.
- Squeeze along the long edges to snap the remaining clips into place.
