OnePlus 2 Motherboard Replacement

If your phone fails to power on, it may require a new motherboard, which can be replaced with this guide's assistance.

Step 1 | SIM Card

Ensure phone power is switched off.

  • Pry off the external casing using an opening pick, your thumbnail, or a spudger.

  • Locate the SIM card tray on the back of the phone.
  • Slide out the tray with your thumb, using gentle pressure.

Locate and remove the SIM card tray.

Step 4 | Battery

Remove all rubber screw covers using a pair of tweezers.

  • Extract the 6 rubber covers.
  • Remove all screws from the mid frame.

Be careful not to damage the phone or surrounding components.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry up the mid frame from the back of the phone.
  • Slowly work your way around the phone, releasing all the clips that hold the frame in place.

Be careful not to damage the battery connector.

  • Use a spudger tool to pry the battery up from the adhesive.
  • Once the battery is loose, use the spudger tool to disconnect it from the phone on the top right side.

Step 7 | Front and Rear Camera

Disconnect both camera connections using a spudger at the bottom-right corner.

  • Pry off each connection carefully to avoid damaging the wires.
  • Lift off the wiring after both connections are disconnected.

Use a spudger to carefully pry off the connection to the left of the front-facing camera.

  • Lift up the camera using the tweezers.
  • As you lift, slide the bottom, flat portion upwards.

  • Use a spudger to pry off the connection below the front-facing camera.
  • Remove the camera from its groove using tweezers.

Step 11 | Charging Port

  • Pry up the top connection of the charging port using a spudger tool.
  • Slowly pry the cable up from its adhesive, following it with the spudger.
  • Stop at the next connection.

Use the spudger tool to carefully lift the final 4 connections on the charging port.

  • Slowly follow the cable with the spudger tool, lifting it up from the adhesive backing.

Use a spudger to gently push the charging part towards you.

  • The charging part should now be free from the frame.
  • Remove the charging port completely using your fingers.

Step 14 | Motherboard

Insert a spudger into the gap between the motherboard and the daughter-board.

  • Pry the long wire loose, working from one end.
  • Attempt to remove as much of the wire as possible before fully disconnecting it.

  • Use the spudger tool to carefully pry off the two bottom-left connections on the motherboard.

Step 16

Unscrew the screw located at the bottom right of the motherboard using a screwdriver.

Use a spudger tool to carefully pry up the top motherboard connection.

Position the spudger tool under the bottom right corner of the motherboard.

  • Slide the spudger around the underside of the board until it's fully detached.
  • Verify complete detachment before attempting to remove the motherboard.
