OnePlus 2 Charging Port Replacement

  • Charging Port Fault?
  • Check for damage or corrosion on the charging port.
  • Rigid troubleshooting: use a different charger and cable to confirm fault.
  • If faulty, replace the charging port assembly with a new one.

Step 1 | SIM Card

Power down the device completely.

  • Pry off the exterior casing using a spudger, an opening pick, or your thumbnail.

Be careful when handling the SIM card tray — risk of damage.

  • SIM Card Tray: Locate on device back and grasp with thumb.
  • Gently slide it out towards you.

Do not force the SIM card tray removal process.

  • Remove the SIM card tray.
  • Insert a PRA tool or SIM ejector to pry open the tray.
  • Pull the tray out gently from the device.

Step 4 | Battery

Remove six rubber screw covers using a pair of tweezers.

  • Next, use a Phillips head driver to remove eighteen screws from the mid frame.

Be careful not to damage any components during this process.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry up the mid frame from the back of the phone.
  • Work your way slowly around the entire device, releasing each clip as you go.

  • Pry the battery free using a spudger tool.
  • Lift upwards to release the adhesive.
  • Pry up the connection between the battery and phone on the top right corner.

Step 7 | Charging Port

Remove the top charging port connector using a strong plastic spudger by:

  • Lifting the connector with the spudger and guiding it along the cable to release the adhesive.
  • Continue until you reach the second connector, then stop.

Use a spudger to gently pry up the remaining four connections on the charging port.

  • Lift the cable slowly along its length using the same spudger.

  • Insert a spudger into the bottom of the phone and push the charging part inward until you feel it release.

  • Pull the charging port away from the frame, working your way around any clips that may be holding it in place.
    • Once the port is free, remove the remaining retaining clip with your fingers.
