Nothing Phone (1) Earpiece Speaker Replacement

Replacing the earpiece speaker on Nothing Phone (1) may compromise its IP rating, so proceed with caution.

  • Consult this guide for detailed instructions.
  • Purchase replacement adhesive for rear glass reattachment.

Step 1 | Heat the rear glass

Step 1 image

Apply an iOpener to the rear glass for at least 2 minutes.

  • Carefully use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate (if available).

  • Secure the suction handle attachment to the rear glass edge, as close as possible.
    • If cracked, apply either strong tape or superglue.

Lift the rear glass using the suction handle and create a small gap between back cover and frame.

  • Be cautious of overheating, as this can cause damage. If necessary, apply more heat to soften adhesive, following iOpener guidelines.

Insert an opening pick into the created gap, sliding it towards the bottom right corner to slice the adhesive.

  • Leave the opening pick in place to prevent resealing of adhesive.

Step 3 | Slice the adhesive

  • Target ~2-3 mm of the glyph with the Opening Pick's tip.
  • Avoid damaging LEDs during insertion.

Avoid overexposing adhesive to heat, as this can damage surrounding components.

  • If adhesive becomes too hard to cut, reheat the iOpener for 1-2 minutes.
  • Ensure it's warm before proceeding with disassembly.

Insert a third pick at the bottom left corner.

  • Use the Opening Pick to slide along the left edge, slicing the adhesive.
  • Leave the top left pick in place to prevent resealing.
