Remove the back cover using a plastic opening tool.

  • Pry from the top and sides of the back cover.
  • Release clips from the top edge first, then move to other edges.

Avoid prying around SIM card slot and volume controls as plastic is thin and prone to breaking.

Secure the bottom with an opening pick.

  • The "snaps" at the bottom are like hinges; release others first.
  • Swing back cover off from top, allowing snaps to release without breaking.

Reattach one snap near the flash window for secure Qi charging.

  • Press firmly over "Nexus" logo and slide thumb up towards the top.
  • The snap will engage, securing the back cover to midframe.

Step 2 | Midframe

Remove the six Phillips #00 screws (4.0 mm) securing the midframe.

  • Retail all six screws, as they securely attach the midframe to the motherboard.
  • The three small snaps on the back cover ensure proper contact between NFC antenna and wireless charging coil connectors and the motherboard.

For LCD screen replacement, remove four additional daughterboard cover screws (4.0 mm) using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Be prepared to pierce through adhesive material to remove the daughterboard cover screws.

  • Use a spudger to gently pry the rear-facing camera free from its adhesive.

  • There is adhesive securing the rear-facing camera; be careful not to damage it when prying.

  • Pull the camera laterally towards its ribbon, which will reveal the circuit board underneath the motherboard.

  • Do not pull up until you see the black circuit board of the camera fixture.

  • Once visible, gently pull up and remove the camera fixture.
