Remove the back cover by prying clips on top and sides with a plastic opening tool.

  • Use an opening pick to free the adhesive foam at the bottom.
  • Avoid prying around the SIM card slot and volume controls, as they are prone to damage.

The back cover has three snaps, two of which must be secure for proper function: one is located near the flash window.

  • Reattach the back cover by applying gentle but firm pressure over the "S" in "Nexus" and sliding your thumb up towards the top.
  • Making sure this snap engages ensures proper Qi (wireless) charging function.

Step 2 | Midframe

Remove six 4.0 mm Phillips #00 screws securing midframe.

  • Retail all six screws, as they ensure secure attachment to motherboard.
  • The three small snaps on the back cover also provide secure NFC and wireless charging connections.

Pierce through clear adhesive if necessary to access daughterboard cover screws.

  • Use same screwdriver for four additional 4.0 mm Phillips #00 screws securing LCD screen and digitizer.
