Nexus 5 Loudspeaker Replacement

Replace the speaker assembly on your Nexus 5 with these instructions.

Step 1 | Back Cover

Use a plastic opening tool to release clips on top and sides of back cover.

  • The bottom is secured with adhesive foam; use an opening pick to finally remove it.
  • Snap "hinges" at the bottom edge will release when all other clips are freed.

Avoid prying around SIM card slot and volume controls, as thin plastic is prone to breaking.

  • When reassembling, secure snap near flash window by applying gentle but firm pressure on the "S" in "Nexus" with your thumb sliding up towards top.

Remove the four Phillips #00 screws securing the speaker assembly.

  • Use a plastic opening tool to carefully pry the speaker assembly loose.
