Nexus 5 Antenna Cable Replacement

Replace antenna cables if your Nexus 5 experiences frequent service loss.

Step 1 | Remove the Battery Door

Locate the plastic clips holding the battery door in place.

  • Insert a plastic spudger between the clips and gently pry them apart.

Step 2 | Unscrew the Midframe and Speaker Assemby

Use a #00 Philips Screwdriver to remove six midframe screws.

  • (Note: The far right screw might be stuck due to adhesive)
  • Remove four speaker assembly screws at the bottom using your #00 Philips Screwdriver.

The adhesive covering one of the screws may require a plastic spudger for removal.

Step 3 | Remove the Midframe and Speaker Assembly

Disconnect the Battery Connector.

  • Remove the Midframe Screw using a Torx T10 Driver.
  • Gently lift out the Midframe and Speaker Assembly.

Step 4 | Remove and Replace the Antenna Cables

Identify the antenna cables, one gray and one black, on either side of the battery.

  • Using a plastic spudger, disconnect both ends of the antenna cables.
  • Connect new antenna cables.

Ensure the antenna cables are securely connected to prevent signal loss or damage.

Step 5 | Reassemble the Device

Screw the midframe and speaker assembly back into place.

  • Push the outer edges of the battery door down until you hear the plastic clips "click."

Step 6 | Power on the Device

Press and hold the power button until you feel a vibration or see the Google logo on screen.
